Our Team

Ross has over 20 years of experience in the MEP engineering consulting field, much of which has been dedicated to mechanical building systems. His wide range of project experience has enabled him to bring many different approaches to projects whether it is an approach to solve a budget consideration or to provide a unique HVAC system to a project. His education as an Architectural Engineer has allowed him to expand his knowledge into the plumbing and electrical disciplines enabling him to truly understand all the systems within a building. With the ability to visualize a project from start to finish, difficult building system problems become very clear, which is key to consulting his clients.

Over the course of his career, Ross has designed mechanical and hydronic systems for commercial office buildings, retail, multi-family, healthcare facilities, hospitality, multi-use, assisted living facilities, data centers, restaurants and specialty facilities. Specialized systems include: bio-hazard exhaust and filtration systems, indoor firing ranges, laboratory HVAC systems, engineered smoke removal systems, energy recovery systems and conservation and isolation systems.

Ross is active in mentoring youth who are interested in engineering. He also serves on the Round Rock ISD STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Advisory Committee.

In his spare time, Ross enjoys BBQing and has been competing in local BBQ competitions for several years. His Team name is Low Delta T, which emphasizes the low and slow techniques necessary for true Texas BBQ. While enjoying his barbecue hobby, he often includes family, friends, neighbors. The aroma of his barbecue will entice even strangers!

Ross is very family oriented. He loves to spend time with his wife, two daughters, and two sons.

Austin, Texas

He has over 20 years of experience in the MEP engineering consulting field and the majority of that experience has focused on plumbing trades and general coordination with HVAC services for a great amount of diverse facilities. Sam is well versed in the areas of project management and systems design.

Over the course of his career he has designed systems for commercial office buildings, assisted living facilities, restaurants, retail, healthcare, laboratory facilities and multi-housing developments. He is very knowledgeable in all aspects of plumbing systems that include domestic water and waste systems, storm drainage systems, process piping systems (including RO/DI water), high purity water systems, laboratory gas and chemical systems, gas piping, vacuum systems, chemical waste and vent, compressed air, medical gases, specialty fluid handling systems, fire protection systems and backflow prevention.

In his spare time Sam enjoys landscaping doing home projects, reading, movies, and BBQing. He loves animals of all sorts, and presently has 2 dogs and a cat. He is very involved with his family and enjoys annual beach vacations with his family.

San Antonio, TX

Ariel is one of our CAD/BIM Technician with experience in Sprinkler Design, Structural Design, and now MEP. Ariel has worked on various projects spanning from small Residential projects to High-Rise mixed used buildings. With his vast experience in Revit, Ariel leads AYS’ BIM efforts.

Ariel is a sports enthusiast, with soccer leading the way. You can catch him at Q2 Stadium cheering for Austin FC in the supporters’ section, or on the couch Sunday afternoons cheering on his New Orleans Saints. He also enjoys spending time with his family, and occasionally gaming on his PC or PS5.

Bogota, Colombia

Christina Aleman is an Electrical Designer with excellent communication skills and a knack for understanding the goals of the client and project.  She has a Team oriented work ethic that results in optimum coordination, which is a key factor in design.

In her spare time, Christina is a Zumba fitness instructor at one of Austin’s large fitness gyms. She dedicates many hours on her music programming and choreography and her classes continue to grow as a result. Christina is especially close to her family both near and far. She often spends time with her nieces and nephews now that they are all potty trained and will watch scary movies with her. By the way – yes, Christina is Ross’s younger sister.

Austin, TX. She also lived in Vermont for a portion of her childhood.

Edgar Tovar is a Plumbing Designer with strong committed and dedicated work ethic, which yield excellent design results.

In his spare time, he enjoys family barbeques, the outdoors and playing defense for two Austin Futbol Leagues. Edgar may be quiet and concentrated at the office, but his personality comes to life at social events after 5pm!

Guanajuato, Mexico. Since 1999, he moved straight to Central Texas and has dug his roots deep into the heart of Texas.

Kim has been in the MEP world in many different capacities. From drafting to invoices she’s seen it all. Currently she is enjoying working behind the scenes and helping whenever she can.

Kim convinced Ross to marry her and have 4 beautiful blessings. She enjoys cooking, baking, sewing, and loves working at home with the dogs next to her.

Tyler, Texas but she’s lived in the Austin area for 30 years.

Michael Franco is a Mechanical Designer at our Austin office. His growth within the Mechanical Department has expanded to include Design of HVAC for multi-housing, commercial offices, restaurants and assisted living facilities.

When Michael leaves the office he focuses on fitness – specifically weight training and crossfit. He is very supportive of his team there as well! Michael does however have a large place in both his heart and schedule for his family… Most importantly his wife and 2 daughters.

Although Franco loves many genres of music he has been a metalhead since childhood.  He enjoys live shows where he can bang his head and come out of mosh pit retirement.  Other hobbies include martial arts, firearms and weight training.

El Paso, Texas

Rudy’s mechanical experience includes design of mechanical systems for commercial office buildings, data centers, tech centers, government buildings, multi-housing developments, higher learning residences, laboratory facilities, research facilities, education facilities, BIM coordination and shop drawings.

In his spare time he enjoys doing home improvement projects, fishing along the Texas coast, drawing and computer graphics. Rudy created the artwork for some of the AYS Christmas cards.

Austin, Texas

Ronnie Williams is the Construction Phase Manager for our Austin office. He monitors the construction progress and ensures that our designs are built the way they are intended to be. His expertise includes reviewing Requests for Information (RFI) and construction cost proposals, making site visits to monitor the construction progress and compliance with the requirements of the Contract Documents, and observe system commissioning. His role in the Design process is pivotal to our projects and working closely with the other teams involved is crucial to their understanding and development of our work. Before joining AYS Ronnie graduated from ITT Tech with an Associate’s degree in Applied Science and worked in the Civil Engineering field. Having been involved with the Civil aspect of design has helped with Ronnie’s understanding to the design process of our projects as a whole.

In Ronnie’s free time you will most likely find him on the golf course or spending time at home with his family.

Austin, Texas

Aaron is a licensed Electrical Engineer and LEED Accredited Professional with over 15 years’ experience. He has worked both as the sole engineer on over a hundred projects and in collaboration with others on just as many.  On these projects, he has been responsible for electrical engineering, electrical/lighting/fire alarm design, code compliance, short circuit/energy/photometric/voltage drop calculations, specifications, submittals, field reports, client relations, company AutoCAD customizations, and project management.  The types of projects he has successfully completed include restaurants, commercial office, warehouse, medical, Green Building/LEED, hazardous location, manufacturing/industrial, design/build, entertainment, civic (city/state), institutional, residential, retail, and historical buildings.  He takes pride in being responsive to his client’s needs, questions, and concerns, and endeavors to ensure that projects issued with his seal are done the right way. 

Aaron is a man of many interests.  A Christ-serving father of three and husband of one, he spends a lot of time outside of the office as either a fan or coach of his kids as they likewise pursue their many interests.  When those schedules abate, he fills his off hours as a soccer referee, woodworker, movie watcher, or dabbler in the trumpet or piano playing arts.  He and his family recently completed the renovations for a Bed and Breakfast in Fredericksburg, TX, and they enjoy offering their guests a unique, relaxing experience in the Texas Hill Country. Jing rides his (fixed-gear) bike to work everyday, weather permitting.  He also likes to cook/bake.

Jared is a recent graduate from TAMUCC in 2021 with skills in Autodesk applications involving computer aided designs. Now working for AYS as a mechanical designer, he has developed knowledge in HVAC engineering theory and technical processes, HVAC design on a multitude of projects such as apartments and office/warehouse spaces, and mechanical consulting and coordination between trades and contractors.

Jared’s hobbies include video games, movies, baseball, and hockey. He is a big sport fan, and his favorite teams are the Texas Ranges and Las Vegas Golden Knights,

Lexington, South Carolina

Amanda has been involved in many aspects of engineering processes for 20 years. Her experience includes Semiconductor and clean room processes, electrical contracting, HVAC and UPS equipment sales and services.  Business management and administration is now her primary focus where she can use her analytical, entrepreneurial and communication skills to enhance business operations.

Amanda has ran a home-bakery where she baked and decorated wedding and birthday cakes, cookies and cupcakes for the general public, friends, and family. Her love of baking and decorating hasn’t wavered; however, she now spends free time with her children participating in their extracurricular activities, doing projects around her home and crafting.  Amanda also enjoys spending time outdoors hiking and camping.

Geoffrey has over three decades in the MEP engineering industry, with 27 years of electrical design experience dedicated to K-12 for many independent school districts throughout the state of Texas. Although not degreed, he has obtained a 18^th degree black belt in the school of “hard knocks” with a broad understanding of electrical engineering, lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and coordination between MEP trades and other disciplines. Schools may be the bulk of his career, he also has design experience for a multitude of projects for commercial spaces and buildings, retail and shell spaces, storage facilities, dental offices, med malls, restaurants, hospitals and surgery centers, carwashes, multi-family, data centers, and residential.

As an empty nester after raising two children, in his spare time, Geoffrey loves to spend time with family, read, listen to podcasts, doing yard work, DIY home projects, avid stock market investor, gun range, and is a certified blues guitar enthusiast.

Spring Branch, TX

Brandon has been in the development industry for 7 years. Beginning as a drafter for a fiber and coax company, he has developed techniques for efficient and expedient computer aided designs. After a year and a half, he began working for the City of Austin as a Mechanical Plan Reviewer, gaining 6 years of extensive code knowledge with the uniform and international mechanical, building, and energy codes. Now working for AYS as a mechanical designer, he has developed knowledge in HVAC engineering theory and technical processes, HVAC design on a multitude of projects such as apartments and office/warehouse spaces, and mechanical consulting and coordination between trades and contractors.

Brandon’s hobbies include hiking, camping, clay shooting, and being active at the gym or on a trail. He is a big basketball fan, and his favorite team is the Dallas Mavericks!
